I guess I never thought about writing as something I would be interested in. Maybe I knew instinctively that writing, like any other art form, opens the writer up to criticism by others. I thought that when I decided to write for my university's student newspaper that I would subject to no such criticism. I could not have been any more wrong. People have attacked everything from my intelligence to my commitment to my community. I guess the old adage is true, expect the unexpected.
I am about to write a rebuttal column. I didn't want to but I have to at least inform those who know nothing about me. They need to know a little about who I am and what I stand for.
