Ahh, yes. I forgot to mention (and I'm not sure how) that our DSL line is down. The modem got fried Sunday during the storm. So we are reduced to using ~gasp~ dail-up. We had been trying to get in touch w/ BellSouth, since that's who we have our service through since it went down. Kathy and I were trying seperately, at different times, from different locations to reach them...to no avail. Then Kathy calls me from work this morning and boy was she pissed.
It seems that we will have to buy a new DSL modem, either from BellSouth or anywhere else we please, because our 1 year warranty has expired. They don't care that lightning struck it...or that we are still being charged for a service we can't use...or that we've been loyal customers for 2 years. They just won't replace it once the warranty is up. So my baby did what she always does when she gets all righteous and indignant (which BTW is sooo sexy on her!), she hopped on the internet.
She looked up the local cable company, found out how much it would cost to get basic cable (which we have been getting for free since we moved into this house...what? it's a rental. it's included right? ~bats lashes~) and DSL service. It turns out to be less than or equal too what we are currently paying for our phone line and DSL through the phone company. Since we ONLY have the phone line for the sake of internet and we both have cell phones guess what were gonna due? That's right, we're getting rid on the land line folks!
Fuck you BellSouth!!!
We'll probably keep the craptastic dail-up for the next month and then we'll switch over to cable DSL. My baby freakin' rocks yo!
