My apologies to those of you who've been trying to reach me via email. I have been sans email at home for a couple of days now and I've actually been too busy at work this week to post/reply anything of substance really. Today I will be getting around to the questions you all have asked and respond to any outstanding emails. I promise I'm not ignoring you guys. ~smile~

Well kinda. Now that my interwebs at home are on (yay!) here are some questions I've received (in no particular order)

[livejournal.com profile] exploring_alex asked What does your line "...Try to wash off that baby seal smell" mean, if anything?

Why Alex, I amd soo glad you asked. Now I get to share this fabulous video with all the new people on my LJ. The line you're asking about comes from this:

*********

[livejournal.com profile] energyneophyte asked What made you decide to become a bootblack and where did you learn your skills?

I don't think it was so much a decision as a reawakening of something dormant. A series of very fortunate events brought me to where I am today in bootblacking. I first saw someone bootblacking at Together in Leather in 2005. At the time I didn't know Elegant, but time would change that. After that I went to Frolicon's inaugural year and had the pleasure of attending Steven Hagen's bootblacking workshop. I thought it was way hot! Then I remembered that I used to enjoy working on my shoes when I was a ROTC cadet in high school. After that it's kind of a blur really.

In the process of getting to where I am now, I was privileged to gain guidance in bootblacking from both Elegant and Steven. Since earning my title, I have had the honor of meeting several amazing skilled bootblacks and have learned something from all of them along the way. The coolest part is that I am still learning. I definitely appreciate all the knowledge imparted on me. I hope to be as helpful to others as so many have been to me.

********

It may be cheesy to feel this way, but I was genuinely touched by this question:
how did you learn to be so genuinely pleasant around anyone you come in contact with, whether female or male (cause you are...)

also wondering when i will bump into you again? (going to CLAW?)

First, THANK YOU! That is incredibly sweet of you to say. To answer the question, I'm southern! You grow up learning to be polite even if you don't particularly care for someone else's behavior. I actually enjoy meeting new people, getting to know more about them. I love humanity despite what we can do to each other sometimes. When I have the opportunity to interact with people I take it. You never know what kind of link or bond you could discover. People are so very different yet all basically the same. It's an adventure in and of itself to see what is what with each individual I meet.

I won't be at CLAW. It's the week before IMsL and I just don't think I could squeeze it in. I will be at IMsL, Beyond Leather and SELF as far as larger scale events go. I would absolutely love to attend IML, but don't know if the finances can support that trip. I've not been to a lot of predominantly male events and would love to do so. I am sure we will see each other again soon.
