Tonight was our first tackle practice. I love tackling waaay too much. There are only, maybe, 5 girls on my team out of the 30+ I wouldn't want to be hit by. Of that 5, 3 have no idea what they are capable of yet. Aaah rookies! One of them, Hilt, is going to rock once she gets the tackle/power dynamic down. I got to play tackle dummy for the littler girls on the team who wanted to challenge themselves. One of them has made it her sworn mission to take me down before the season's out. They're so cute when they're hangin' on to my ankle...lol!

I'm not the fastest runner on the team or the best ball handler. My size, for once, is my biggest asset. I would say my brain, but you have to be crazy to play rugby! I really enjoy playing, watching the rookies get their bearings, the fear in the eyes of the tiny girl I'm about to smash from another team!

Physically, I'm hurtin'...shoulda run over the summer. Right now though, covered in dirt...my ribcage hurts..under my right bicep hurts (and is bruising quite nicely thankyouverymuch)...my spine hurts and my head hurts....and I'm totally smiling about every bit of it.

Now sleep.

This weekend The Manor will have the pleasure of entertaining Sinn. I know I'm excited!!
Mood:: hurtin'...and lovin' it!!

In peace

I'm second row...and I freakin' love it!! I know, it's weird. The power is so addictive though. I will gladly share my rugby tales, if you'll do the same. Who do you play for? I play for the Columbia Rampage. We were the 1st women's club team in our state. We've been struggling for 3 yrs, but we're still around. This season looks to be a promising year though.

BTW Isis La Phoenix is a beautiful name. I plan on having a rather large phoenix tattooed on my right thigh in the next few years. The symbolism means a great deal to me.

Glad to finally hear from you too.

Funny, I was down in my basement doing laundry this morning and there were my boots sitting there, looking unhappy as they have not been worn for quite a while...

One more year though...I should be done with school again and be able to play again...

that is, if my partner lets me......

I'm sure they will let you. Have they ever seen you play? Can't deny the passion w/ which someone plays. My girlfriend would probably prefer I not play for so many reasons, but she knows it truely makes me happy.

BTW what position do you play? Who'd you play for last?

I was a prop...about 40 pounds ago. I played for Temple University (which was amazingly homophobic) last...then after I graduated, I was working nights and weekends...well you know...then when I finally went back to start playing, several girls from my college team that I had some serious issues with were on the club team, and it didn't seem worth the harrasment. Then I got the bright idea to go back to school, so no time now.

My partner hasn't seen me play, but I do drag her to every game and tournament I can, and I think after 4 years she's finally getting the rules.....

I miss playing too. I used to play for antioch college, it has been the only team at this school since 1929. Crazy eh. But, when you ban sports for awhile and then put crazy ass power hungry fueding lesbians in charge,the team is bound to fall. It was a great team though. WE had lots of fun. Apparently its dangerous, but so is driving a car. I guess my last game was about a year ago. The power and the adrelanine are so amazing that i am tempted to call it a turn on, but i am only tempted. It is something though, and i love feeling good and hurt afterwords. I dont know, theres a sense of sportmanship. A team, togetherness, lesbianism too. I know all ruggers are not lesbians, but you know. I will reccommend this game to my child, as well as the piano, guitar, singing, acting, whatever he/she may like.
