I think I yelled that...full volume...twice tonight at practice. I am insanely tired right now. Not mentally, but totally physically wiped out. I was hoping that we'd have a laid back practice. Coach went the complete oposite end of the spectrum. She wanted to help us work on some issues we seemed to be having during Saturday's game.

She tried to kill us. We ran, did all kinds of drills, did tons on sit-ups. My teammates couldn't stop doing situps until did 100 situps. Talk about peer pressure!! So I'm seriously hurting, but I didn't punk out on the rest of practice either. So much running...ugh.

On the plus side, I had to hold the ball for our kicker tonight. It was the hottest sound ever! I had my head turned so I wouldn't get kicked in the face. The sound of her foot connecting with the ball, combined with the feel of the ball being booted from under my finger was pretty freaking hot!!

Anyway, gotta go eat and shower. Then off to bed. Night all!

PS - Happy birthday K-Bean!!! Love you muy mucho!!!

I started writing this down when we got back to Durham last night around 1ish. I fell asleep long before I could get it finished. Which was bad and good. Bad because I didn't finish what I started. Good because the pain had set itself in even more so by the time I woke up. I'm actually still in a good bit of pain. Quite frankly, I wouldn't be happy if I wasn't!!

Anyway, here ya go:

On the way home from PhillyI got the idea that I should write about where I hurt and why. I, literally, hurt from head to toe right now. I was scheduled to play 2 games, managed to whore on for 2 more. So let's take it from the top shall we!!

My Head- Across my forehead and all the way around it in about a 2" wide strip. That's where I tape down my ears. The position I play requires me to repeatedly force my head between 2 people's hips. If my ears weren't taped, they'd either be cauliflowered or riped off.

My Jaw-Clenching my jaw when I tackle, run or ruck is just par for the course. Thank goodness I wear a mouth guard.

My Neck- Again the repeated shoving of my head between people's hips. Add to that being tackled hard and tackling other people.

My Shoulders- From lifting a 150+ lb girl repeatedly during a match, popping/hitting people when I'm carrying the ball and theytry to tackle me, being dead tired and sleeping on just one side during the night and not moving at all.

My Biceps- lifting 150+ lb girl repeatedly; in scrums one arm goes around my partner at 2nd row to keep them close to me while my other arm reaches through my prop's legs to grab hold of her shorts or shirt. I hang on to both of these girls while posting in a controlled, forceful fashion until either our team or the opposition gains possion of the ball.

My Forearms - Stiff arming girls coming at me when I run makes them go down hard, but if I miss the girl has chance to get a hold of my forearm and do a little damage. It also gets stepped on a good bit in rucks and clawed in mauls.

Hands/Fingers Stepped on, bent back. I forgot to clip my nails before the game and consequently to of them, one on each hand, were pulled away from the quick. I think they hurt the most. The constant gripping onto shorts and shirts in set pieces probably didn't help either.

My Breasts The left one is unscathed, which is unusual. It's pierced and usually takes quite a beating. This time righty is sore in one spot. I'm pretty sure it's from a chick hitting me with her head trying to get past me. It feels like somebody punched me.

My Ribcage It hurts all the way around. It's probably from rucking over the ball and taking out 3 girls when I do it. Also a repeated action in a match.

Mid-section/Abs Same as above

Back- The lifting, being tackled and rucking. Add to that two nights on a half inflated air mattress

Thighs/Quads- I use them most during the matches. It's how I push when we scrum down or drive when we have a maul. I have giant scratches and bruises on both my thighs that hurt like hell.

Knees- I'm a big girl who runs, figure it out. Plus I have multiple lacerations on both knees.

Shins/Calf- Cleats to the shins just suck. Pushing 8 other people around while in a scrum takes its toll on your calf muscles and all the running.

Ankles- I rolled the left one twice in one match. The right one once the next day.

Toes- Left big toe got stepped on by cleats...plus my rugby boots have a molded cap in them

And there you have it. After rereading this, I wouldn't change it for the world!

I wasn't sucking as bad as I had anticipated at practice. However, since I haven't been running the 1 day a week I had agreed with myself to do, I totally pulled my left hamstring. Ouch, yes pian. But instead of just sitting down for the remainder of practice, I worked through it. Not very well mind you, but still did everything my teammates did...just much, much slower. It's what I'd do in a game anyway. If it's not broken, I'm still gonna play. So I should make that my practice philosophy right?

So I guess i need to start the extra day a week running. Fall will be here before I know it and I need to give the little ones a reason to be terrified. :)

Off to bed now.
